Vasiliki Siafaka is a classical saxophone performer and educator and is a PhD candidate in Music Education at European University of Cyprus.
She completed her MA degree in ‘Music Education: Saxophone Teaching’ at University of York (2019), BMus (Hons) in ‘Music’ at European University of Cyprus (2016) for which she was awarded a 75% scholarship for all of the 4 years of her degree due to winning the first prize award in the Panhellenic and Pancyprian saxophone competition in 2012. Furthermore, Vasiliki obtained a Diploma in Saxophone performance from Municipal Conservatory of Lamia (2017).
Vasiliki worked as a saxophone teacher and conductor of the saxophone choir in Music School of Karditsa, saxophone teacher at the University of York as part of her MA degree, saxophone teacher at Windcraft Music Center and other conservatories in Cyprus, and has been giving private tuition in saxophone in Cyprus and the UK.
Vasiliki is a founding member of Greek Saxophone Association and co-founder member of Cyprus Saxophone Quartet and EUC saxophone quartet. She has performed in many concerts as a soloist, with chamber ensembles, philharmonic bands, orchestras and with the jazz big band conducted by the nominated for Grammy award Dr. Gene Aitken.
She won first prize awards in numerous saxophone competitions and has attended masterclasses with distinguished saxophonists such as Jean Marie Londeix, Sarah Markham, George Porte, Griffin Campbell, John Sampen, Matthew Arau, Olavii Kasemaa, Nino Dimov, Mimmo Malandra.
Among other concerts she has performed with CSQ, EUC saxophone quartet and as a soloist in Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Embassy of Belgium and in Embassy of Italy in Cyprus respectively, and in CIPA – International Investment Awards in the presence of the Cyprus President performing with Cyprus Saxophone Quartet. In addition, Vasiliki was part of live music performance as saxophone player in the theatrical work by Aristofanis ‘Εκκλησιαζουσες Προβα Τζενεραλε’ at Satiriko theatre of Nicosia, Cyprus and in Live music performance with Cyprus Saxophone Quartet for the theatrical and musical project of experiential learning in schools organized by the non-profit organization beARTive.
Vasiliki started teaching the saxophone at Potenzia del’ Arte in September 2023.
